On Sunday, February 10 Troop 433 will be conducting a basic orienteering skills course. Attending boys will be given the opportunity to achieve Second Class requirements 3a and 3d; First Class Requirements 4a and 4b and several basic requirements of the Orienteering merit badge.
Where: McFarland Nature Park. When: Sunday, February 10th 1:00pm to 3:30pm Uniform: Class-B with hiking/walking shoes. Mandatory equipment: Compass, walking stick, pen or pencil. Recommended equipment: GPS or Smartphone with mapping app (“GAIA GPS” recommended). RSVP: Through Troopmaster
To maximize fun-time at the park each boy needs to review a few things before we meet:
** Pay special attention to the part on declination. If you can do it, pre-set your compass with a -5 degree (west) declination.
