Tent Sale!
Scouts! REI is having a Labor Day Sale from August 22 - September 1st, 2014. They have the REI CAMP DOME 2 TENT on sale for $79.99 This is an excellent price on a great tent. Normally this tent is $119. I bought it 5 years ago for $99 and thought that was a good deal, so this is even better! I highly recommend this tent for our new scouts. This will serve them well in backpacking and camping trips. Here's the link to the specifications: --Scott Lovell Webmaster Troop 433 |
Spring Camporee
We are official into the week of the Foothills Spring Camporee! I have scheduled us some very nice weather for the weekend and we will surely have a great time. If you have not reported your projected headcount yet please do so as soon as you have those numbers. We need to know # of youth, # of adults, as well as how many of those are currently in the Order of the Arrow (Please encourage them to bring their OA sash). I have attached a tentative agenda for the weekend, please note that Troop time and Orienteering Course can are mostly the same. You will have time in the afternoon to work on whatever Advancement or other activity that your troop needs. The OA TapOut is a very special moment in the OA experience. Please encourage all youth and adults that have been elected or nominated to attend the Tap Out Ceremony. We will have a Cracker Barrel after the Tap Out for all OA members and new candidates at which point they will receive important information for the next step of their Journey. If you have any questions about the event do not hesitate to let me know. I hope to see all of you this weekend. YiS, David Robinson Doug Morin |

2014 Glacier National Park High Adventure Trip
Our High Adventure Trip for 2014 is to the Glacier National Park. Dates are still being determined, but the trip should be awesome!
The area we plan to backpack within Glacier NP (the Many Glacier
area) is called out as the best area (within an especially good area
overall) to see a grizzly. The material in the linked article provides
good info, debunks many myths, and provides good maps and info on skills
for bear encounters. -Hilary Thornton Update Jan 2014: Tentative dates for Troop 433 Trip to Yellowstone/Glacier - Tues July 16- Thurs July 24. Midweek travel dates were hundreds of dollars cheaper (per ticket, and we'll have at least 10).
We must pay $50 per ticket by Friday 1/31
to hold these seats, or we can let them go and try again. See
attached for ticket contract details and later dates to truly lock in. I'll explain more at tonight's meeting if time permits.
